Jinnah

Director: Jamil Dehlavi
Producer: Jamil Dehlavi
Feature-Length Drama Biopic

Biography of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founder of modern Pakistan is told through flashbacks as his soul tries to find eternal rest. The flashbacks start in 1947 as Jinnah pleads for a separate nation from the Muslim regime, infuriating Lord Mountbatten. Mountbatten then tries to enlist Gandhi & Nehru to persuade Jinnah to stop his efforts. Gandhi sides with Jinnah, which upsets Nehru. However, Jinnah turns down the offer to become prime minister and the film takes another slide back to 1916, which reveals all of the political implications that have occurred.

We were responsible for the re-mastering of this 1998 film. From digitising the stems from magnetic optical disks, through to creating the surround mix. We have worked with director Jamil Dehlavi in the past on “Seven Lucky Gods” so it was a great opportunity to work with Jamil on such an interesting project. The process started by transferring all of the original sound materials from MO-disks onto our system using the Akai Digital-Dubber. We synced up all the stems and track-laid them into a Pro Tools session. The final process was to create a surround mix. We wish Jamil the best of luck with the re-release of Jinnah.
